Discerning the Call Session 1

Join us for a three-month, six-session journey of discernment. Is God calling you to a life of prayer and service? Do you wish to reaffirm your vows as a Daughter? This course is designed specifically for any woman communicant of the Episcopal Church who is listening for the call to become a member of The Order of the Daughters of the King®… AND For any Daughter who would like to review the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service to which she vowed and is rededicating herself… AND For any Daughter who may be guiding others through the discernment and preparation process toward membership. We will cover the contents of the National Study Guide of The Order, also read together and discuss the book on Benedictine Spirituality titled How to Live by Judith Valente. There is no charge for this series, but a small donation is appreciated to cover the cost of bringing the course to you online. Please contact us for more information. Leadership Team Meeting: The Los Angeles Board

Leadership Team: DOK Los Angeles Board Chapter Presidents are members of the Board with voice and vote and are urged to attend or send a designated alternate. All Daughters are welcome. The Executive Board meets at 6:00 PM. Chapter Presidents may join then or at 7:00 PM when others are also welcome. Our meetings always close by 8:15 PM with a spiritual or contemplative practice.

“The Philadelphia Eleven” Documentary Screening

I would like to invite you to St George's Episcopal Church in Laguna Hills, for an exciting afternoon on Saturday March 16th at 2:00 PM. We will be showing the movie “The Philadelphia Eleven” which is a documentary film about the first women ordained priests in the Episcopal Church. The movie will be followed by a panel discussion that includes: former Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori the Rev. Canon Victoria Hatch, the first woman ordained a priest in the L.A. Diocese the Rev. Canon Dr. Nancy Wittig, via zoom, one of the Philadelphia Eleven There will be snacks and drinks available before and after the presentation. Registration is recommended prior to the event.  This event is open to all who want to attend, so please bring a friend!  There is a $10 fee for the event. Spring Assembly 2024 “Listening for God’s Call”

Join sister Daughters from around the Los Angeles Diocese to hear a special presentation by the Rev. Canon Victoria T. Hatch, the first woman to be ordained a priest in the Diocese of Los Angeles, with guest moderator the Rev. Canon Dr. Pat McCaughan, Vicar of St. George's in Laguna Hills and correspondent for the Episcopal News Service. The Assembly will open with Morning Prayer with our Diocesan Chaplain, the Rev. Linda Wirt, presiding. Following the special program, we will wrap up with a brief business meeting. REGISTER
